Portermax has them for $195. Batteries plus makes them cheaper, I believe. Any experience ?

I would just go for Portermax.  I haven't bought a battery from them though.  Just 2120 charge packs but their service was excellent and they were happy to send to Australia. (which is important for me)

I've had batteries made up in the past by specialist battery makers.  In my case they pulled apart old to salvage the connector / fly lead to re-use.  Leaves you without a battery for the duration.  With Portermax I expect you will receive in post and simply install leaving you at least with a spare that may get you out of trouble if required.  Unless it is totally dead off course.

But I would have thought that US$195 is not really a great deal to ensure longevity of your 2120 in my view which is probably used for consulting where the rates mean that will only be a couple of hours at most. rgds

I have had Batteries Plus make many battery packs over the years and never regretted not paying CSI or whoever $200-$400.

Just dropped it off at Batteries Plus, $42, much better than portermax or csi...Danny your comments affirm what I have experienced with them making a 2130 battery a few years ago.

That sure is cheap!  My local Batteries Plus charged me $65 back in June (which still isn't too bad).  The cells they used for mine were only 4000ma though (CSI used 4500ma).

I needed to replace 4 more and ended up rebuilding mine using these 5000ma packs at ~ $34 each  >> http://www.batteryspace.com/nimh-battery-7-2v-5ah-36wh-15a-rate-6s-s-rechargeable-battery-pack.aspx also had to buy this to re-shrink wrap them >> http://www.batteryspace.com/PVC-3.15-inch-80mm-Width-Shrink-Wrap-3-L-for-DIY-Battery-Packs.aspx and a piece of this >> http://www.batteryspace.com/search.aspx?find=PM-FP10565 .
