I've got another oddball timken bearing that isn't in the SKF or CSI databases or the Timken site.

How about a 9385/9320-D?

Also wrt the Timken calculator I found that there is a selection bearing type that may help identify some.  Not mine of course.

How sure are you of that number (9385)?  I can find a 9386 cone but not the 9385.

John,

Yes. At least to the degree that the gearbox manufacturers drawing is correct.

I would go to https://www.timken.com/contact-general/ and check off that you want to "Contact Technical Support".  My experinece over many years is they are very good about sharing information.

There is a 9386H as you can see below and I believe the mating cup is 9320-D.

Can you share the gearbox details?

John,

It's made by the French Oil Machine Co. It's a right angle triple reduction with the bevel gears between the second and third shafts and the third and fourth shafts oriented vertically. All other gearsets appear to be helical. This bearing is on the secondary shaft and appears to be a double row tapered roller bearing.

I'll ask Timken if they can be of any help.

As always, thanks for the help.

I have the 9385 in a Timken book. The dimensions given are the same as the 9386H on Timken's website.

Danny, keep us posted on what you learn, especially with respect to the 9385 you first mentioned.  In my Timken book, which is very current, I can't find a 9385, even if I look by bearing type (TDO, TDOCD, or TDODC) as shown at the top of the page provided by "beatnik".  Having said that, I'm using the Adobe search engine on an 834 page document and it has let me down on a few prior occasions.

John,

I still haven't gotten a reply from Timken.  I'll try another angle and post an update when I get something.

Danny, learn anything about that bearing? I'd be really interested in why it doesn't seem to appear in my very current catalog.
