It came down to a few things. The biggest was the cost structure of the Ludeca product. Their data collector is a windows based tablet. We needed 2 data collectors which with their hardware/software structure would have meant paying for the software twice. With the SPM we bought 2 data collectors and 1server/multiple user license. SPM doesn't charge a yearly fee for the software after purchase, Ludeca did after 3 years (I believe it was 3). We also liked that SPM has been around decades, and still supports (in the software) instruments they made in the 80's. I also believe that SPM is one of the best out there at finding defects on very slow turning machines. We have many very slow planetary gearboxes, so that is a big opportunity within our PDM department, and we thought that SPM  would give us the best data for analyzing these machines.

I realize this is an old post, just curious if anyone is using the system and what are the pros and cons?
