My experience with shipping items through FedEx or UPS is the standard insurance of about $100 gets you absolutely no visibility or attention.  Report an item as lost and I doubt anyone does much more than you can do online.  An employee’s time for that hour is worth more than a $100.   Many years ago I was told by UPS, upon the loss of an instrument, to file for the insurance of $100, as the item appeared to be lost.  When I pointed out that I had insured the item for several thousand bucks, all of a sudden the search took on more emphasis, and the item was found the next day.  You will also find that the extra insurance is relatively inexpensive.

Good luck!

Yes even a value of USD 1000:- makes them find it a half continent away from last tracking reading. But if you never received the invoice or reminder for the USD 23:- freight cost they send you to "inkasso"/repo with full charges, here you should send 3 reminders to make that not happen but they make their own rules....... I so far refused to pay for their mistakes we will see how it goes, here if you object to the process it is no longer supported by the gov repo system but become a separate process. I have been their customer for 25+ years, times are hard.

We once had a pretty large pelican case of demo equipment "disappear" at FedEx.

They had no idea where it could be, it was lost and we of course hadn't listed the actual value.

A couple of weeks later, the guy who's equipment it was got a call, the case had fallen off a conveyor at some point and ended up in this woman's office. After it sat there for a week, she didn't scan the shipping document on the case, she called his number (business card stuck to the case) and asked why his case was in her office.

You don't want to lose a 2130, or even a 2120... and a 40 would be even more painfull. rgds
