I've been asked if can do analysis for a customer who has Rockwell system (EMonitor and Dynamix) while his Vib guy is going on extended sick leave after surgery.
I'm only familiar with skf aptitude, and I'm wondering has anyone experience using both? How much different are both systems to each other, I've told them I will need some breathing space to get the hang of it, and they will they're guy to give me a run down on it before he goes on leave.
I tend to rely on velocity acc and enveloped acc mainly on my route work, is Gse very different to gE(enveloped acc) in its capabilities/interpretation?

Any pointers would be great.

Many thanks.

It is always difficult to adjust to a "new" system. If you work for yourself you just say OF COURSE! And work it out as you go along. If you work for an employer you say maybe.

I bought a single channel FAG / Schaeffler Smartcheck system and had it sitting here in boxes for 12 months and when the opportunity to use it finally came along I had to pull finger from the unmentionable so that I could get it sorted. It is working now so I have an online system working through my cell phone network.  Really happy. And I can watch things live. any one want to rent it?  I can provide remote vibration advice. rgds

You may not want to go back to SKF [smile] You should have no problems. For the most part, the gSe is using a 5kHz filter. There are others as the SKF has for banded g's, but 90% of your data will be with 5kHz. Checking spectrum/trend is almost same. Since you're going to be doing data collection and analysis, you won't have to interact with the inner workings and hidden mechanisms of the software.
You'll find fewer screens to have to go to in order to accomplish what you need to. More intuitive. If they had a support staff and the desire.......

Thanks Vibe,
Thanks RRS Dave,

Can you elaborate how that set up with the Fab smart check works? I had an opportunity to deal with the system with Mitsubishi last year(they are a technology partner with Fag) and were running it through a HMI and PLC's. Mind me asking how you got it to work with your phone?

@RRS-Dave, Yeah I have heard from a guy who was ex Rockwell taught me level 2 Va that it was possibly the finest vib analysis software available..even though he had moved to the three lettered company.

So it is an assortment of equipment, all linked together but essentially works with a mobile phone / cell phone SIM card. You just plug it into 240/110 volts and provided you have mobile phone reception it will work.  Has a wireless modem and you need to have a static IP address for the Smartcheck. Which in turn means a subscription to a hosting company. Securey VPN, it is all really reasonable.  Then you just go to internet and voila.  I've not has extensive use so far but all is looking good. Am going to build it into a really nice practical kit so if a client wants to rent it for instant online monitoring it might start paying for itself. rgds

I don't have any knowledge about SKF aptitude, but would be happy to try to answer any queries on Emonitor once you get started. I'm an Enpac user and would assume the Dynamix to be very similar in operation.
