FLIR has an adapter that will turn your cell phone into an IR camera.

They have a $300 and a $400 model. I got the $400 one because it has twice the res. and a higher temp range.

I wouldn't try to do a survey with it (I'm not qualified) but it is sure worth sticking in your pocket.

I was once doing a survey on some transformers and the customer told me, hey, why are you carrying all that stuff with you? The guys of the utility company came and they did the IR survey with a cell phone ...

The Seek Compact Pro as 320x240 px resolution, which is quite ok.

Mark,

Yeah, that's it.

It's got a screw extension on the connector which is good for me because the Cat phone has a water and dust tight plug that would get in the way without it.  I has a little carrying case that fits in your pocket without notice. I haven't run the battery down yet but when you buy it direct from FLIR, they include a big battery that could easily be attached to the back of a cell phone and would give you all the time you need.

I almost paid $50k for a camera that isn't as good as this in 1998.

Wow, the S60 (also with FLIR) is only $400, new. I remember these being so expensive. It almost doesn't make sense to get a chincy camera that has to plug into your phone, just pick up one of these for the same price...

Danny,
I think your misunderstanding me, the Cat S60 and S61 are an android based phone with the flir unit built into them.

When you buy the phone its ready to go with the flir unit.

No, Mark, I have known that since they started trying to get me to pre-order about 5 years ago. Maybe it's Verizon that limits it, but I'm told that neither is available for Droid.

I guess you are correct about Verizon Danny.

CAT S61 WORKS WITH GSM CARRIERS - AT&T, T-Mobile, H2O, Straight Talk (All GSM SIM cards) | Does Not Work with CDMA carriers like VERIZON, SPRINT, BOOST, VIRGIN

From <https://www.amazon.com/CAT-S61-Unlocked-Smartphone-Earphones/dp/B07FJW5L68/ref=sr_1_3?hvadid=78615136232568&hvbmt=bb&hvdev=c&hvqmt=b&keywords=cat+s61+smartphone&qid=1563808721&s=gateway&sr=8-3>

The external adapter would be needed to use Flir Thermal Imager with Android phones and Verizon service.

Walt
