I love the SpeedVue as much as you do Vibe, but it's not exactly a "tapeless tach".... it is tapeless for speed determination, and it's a fully functioning laser tach, but it won't function as a tach (phase, balancing) without tape.  Unless you have found a way that I don't know of.

You are correct Rusty.  I just remember using it tapeless to do synch averaging so sort of assumed it would work as a tach. Not sure why it wouldn't.  mmmm have to try some time.

The trigger voltage is the key.  If only I had more time.

Vibe-rater...so I've heard..but alas we all aren't using CSI.
Between trying to strobe hidden ref points covered fans, shafts etc or sourcing the VSD speed detection can be the bane of my day sometimes, and always on the machine with 2-3 close peaks near the suspected fundamental.
