VENDOR ALERT ==> I AM NOT A VENDOR

I saw this at the VI Annual Training Conference. Anyone ever seen this or similar technologies? Anybody got one?

Seems like a powerful tool to me. Not a bearing detection tool, but ODS made simple, plus anything else that is moving but shouldn't be.

I saw this too at the annual VI conference last week as presented by Jeff Hay.

Quick to set up and only seems to require a relatively short amount of training, but it comes at a price. I asked if it might be available for rental but not at this time.

Tony DeMatteo (4X Diagnostics) also gave a nice presentation using this system and for him, this is a great addition to his company since modal analysis and ODS measurements are his bread and butter.

In particular, Tony uses it to help simplify field measurements using it to hone in on the area of interest. Thus, he can eliminate a lot of FRF measurements that would be of little value.

It will be interesting to see where this technology will go

Most exciting thing I've seen in this field in 20 yrs, but $30K is just too rich for me. Maybe when (if) the price comes down.

It is definitely something to take a close look at. At each of our IMVAC conferences, and at the VANZ conference (not for profit conference in NZ) we have had excellent presentations showing how it was able to quickly enable the user to see motion where traditional techniques would struggle. That motion could be related to resonance, looseness, unbalance (and other driving forces) and lots more. It really is quite amazing.

(Mobius does not sell it - we have zero financial interest.)

We've got a demo set up in 2 weeks at our test bed. Pretty excited.

In hindsight, if we had the tool 6 months ago, it would have already paid for itself.

<<<< Not a Vendor >>>>>

We have used this product 2 times already at my site (with Tony DeMatteo's company) and it has yielded amazing results. We found a weak motor support frame in minutes and the amplitudes that the "Visual Image" provided were within 5-10% of the actual accelerometer values!!
We also used it on a 5,500 HP motor issue and identified a failing foundation. This has saved a tremendous amount of time trouble shooting for the root cause. We were able in a day to identify the problem and moved forward quickly to resolve it. This is not a replacement for a good program, but another tool in the toolbox that is allowing us to work smarter about machine condition issues.
I work in Nuclear and we don't always have the luxury of shutting down a piece of equipment when we want to. This technology has given us a way to modify the motor support to allow us to run the machine within a safe level, until time can be scheduled to shut it down and repair it properly. We have also put this machine into an online monitor, so that we can keep an eye on it 24/7.
