This post is of interest to me as well. I have a client who would like to monitor the oil condition of diesel engines and gearboxes in a marine application.

Thanks Mark. I've used the Tan Delta product a few years back and didn't have much success with it, but it may have gone through some improvements since that time.

We are installing a poseidon system right now. I'll give an update once it's operational and I get some experience with it.

There's another company called 'Gill sensors' doing an oil condition sensor, google them, I don't know much about it though.

Mark,
Did you have problems calibrating the sensors. Has your customer been able to detect a problem with their oil since installing the system.

We sold the unit about 5 years ago, I recall they wanted a sample of the oil to be monitored to calibrate the sensor and that was the last we heard from them, I must get back to the end user and see how they got on with it.

There are many tools to do that. Just make sure you verify the data before making any decision.
