We're creating a write-up on the condition of one of our Main Feed Pump 5-pad sleeve bearings that was experiencing high vibration.  It's too long a story to tell it all... but we would like to describe the as-found condition of the bearing that was affected by the elevated vibration.

ISO 15243 is a pretty thorough description of the failure modes of rolling element bearings.  Does anybody know of a similar standard that applies to sleeve bearings?  We have some EPRI seminar notes that gives pretty thorough descriptions and pictures of sleeve bearing failure modes.  Asking to see if anybody can cite other similar industry recognized documents?

Not sure if you are interested in vibration limits or as-found "conditions".
Jim McHugh published a well-read paper on setting vibration limits for hydrodynamic bearings here (you can download the pdf paper).

Thank you all for the cited references!  Extremely valuable... Goin' straight into my library.  The Kingsbury and Zeidan articles which include failure analysis sections were right on target for me.  "Spragging"... I be damn?  Never heard of it...

Wish I had the McHugh article during our recent flail with increasing Feed Pump vibration.  Lots of opinions on acceptable vibration for these types of pumps.  We relied primarily on ISO 10816-7... but heard lots of opinions.  I'll keep the McHugh article for my next experience...

We experience failure of sleeve bearing. our pump has 6 tilting pad kingsburry. 7 vanes.
Observation: 6X, 7X, 14X with +/-1X sidebands. These faults can be seen in all direction of pump outboard.
The failure was, head nut in outboard was loose. Seal badly damage.
