Hello Mark.

Thanks for this. Yes, they look to have some good products.

Search for the term "heterodyne principle".

This technique is used by my older SDT 150 ultrasound meter, and I suspect many others. I don't have the time to describe in detail, but this method faithfully reproduces ultrasound frequencies downward into the audible frequency range for listening and for spectrum analysis.

Most of the good stuff now has heterodyning as standard, mainly the UE systems and SDT stuff. But as to which is better.. that's a debate you don't want to get into. I have both vying for my attention at present and I am really hung up on which to go for.

My advise is to make a list of what you need to do and then what you would like to do. Get each unit worthy of consideration and try it 2 or more hours on one or more primary tasks. Which gives better results and which is easier to carry around plant. My old SDT 150 works well, but have to keep it running, like me!
