So this is your client? What kind of relationship do you have with them? Are you going to be responsible for this machine? I totally agree with your arrow, that's were I would mount my pad for machine protection or for collecting data. Good luck! I think that Rusty hit the nail on the head with this. I don’t see why the bracket won’t work if mounted at the (bearing).

That looks one of the first interfacing surfaces
, it should be good and it will certainly pick up any vibration problem if it develops.
