While collecting phase data today pump started making an odd noise, vibration went to 10 mm/sec, phase angle was all over the place then settled to levels less than "pre noise". Tomorrow is uncoupled solo motor run

I guess an eel with a bullet proof vest swam into the intake. I assume it was a pump and not a compressor if a water intake was present!

It was a cooling water intake from a river - think very old power station. rgds and it was a centac compressor. Protection systems worked.

I guess you were correct Walt, it was a pump that pumped cooling water through compressor cooling system. As soon as the temp increased it shut down as it was supposed to do. rgds

I've set up advanced transient and left it running overnight with an amplitude rigger and tach input. Might be an option for you. Collection is triggered on the preset amplitude. Tach gives you speed and phase at the time of the event. There's a white paper out there with a similar situation published by Emerson.
