So the final so far is that problems came back after the above and last week after swapping gbx and doing all you can think of the relay that control the hydraulics that lift the cylinders towards the Yankee and switch btw. manual and automatic regulation failed and assembly was replaced and now the gbx stopped flopping around and everything is back to normal. ;-) it operated a week steady as a rock. So maybe it was unstable in operation, glitching and that propagated all the way to the Yankee gearbox... Seems unlikely but nothing else was done and problem is now gone. So for once it was sort of electrical?
